This bottle was wrapped with hand-tied, hand-twisted  1/16″ cotton cord. 84 strands of cord were used in this project.
This art was inspired by the Italian “Fiascos”. The earliest discovered artifacts date back to the 12th century and was generally used to protect clay, and later, glass amphora/bottles.  It was functionally used as late as the 18th & 19th centuries by seafarers to protect their bottles from damage aboard ship while at sea.
